We are off and running!
I will open a post each week where we can exchange ideas and post about writing in our classrooms. Even though we had difficulty getting underway, I am excited to be spending a month with you online working and sharing information about using the 6 Traits and other effective practices in the teaching of writing.

Good morning Sondra,
ReplyDeleteI just wanted you to know that it's possible to connect with your blog using the Galena server. I'm looking forward to talking with you in the near future. Something that appears to be a concern is the "comment as" below this comment box... I have a google account, but it was a pain getting it to work for me. It's just a small hurdle, but a hurdle nonetheless.
Paul
I was able to get on too. I look forward to hearing from other teachers. Should I also try to get on blackboard or something too before next week?
ReplyDeleteI am glad you are able to access the sight! Welcome See if you can join as a follower. This is where I plan for us to do all of our work this month so there will be no need to go to any other sites.
ReplyDeleteThis is a test
ReplyDeleteThis is a test, too... Kate
ReplyDeleteI am really looking forward to sharing with my colleagues the writing activities that we are doing. This week a writing task evolved from building a survival shelter in the woods. Third graders are learning about Outdoor Survival Training with one of the parents and myself. As they worked, they came up with a story idea: "The Lost Class." One of the students went home and wrote and illustrated a story that very night! The kids have been very motivated to write these stories. I used a storyboard graphic organizer as a prewrite (I called it a plan with them.)
ReplyDeleteI like the lost class concept. I am sure this is a motivation. Using with organization on a storyboard is a great prewrite/planning strategy. Have you ever used cartoon/graphic novel ideas to work with storyboarding? I just visited a class where they were using these and I was thinking how like storyboarding they are. Here is a link to the site where she got her ideas..http://www.scholastic.com/teachers/lesson-plan/using-graphic-novels-children-and-teens-guide-teachers-and-librarians
